Biography
Growing up in Baltimore County horse country, Dr. Elizabeth Paternotte developed an early interest in equine care and performance while competing as a nationally ranked hunter/jumper rider.  After graduating from Roland Park Country School in 1991, she attended the University of Richmond earning her BS in 1995.   From there she moved west and worked on a cattle ranch in Wyoming for two years; not only did this experience expose her to equine herd health and management, but also to bovine artificial reproductive techniques now commonly used in horses today.  This experience compelled Dr. Paternotte to earn her master’s degree in Equine Reproductive Physiology from Colorado State University (CSU) in 2000.  She continued at CSU earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2003.  Shortly after receiving her DVM, Dr. Paternotte successfully completed an accredited veterinary acupuncture program at CSU in conjunction with the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture.

Following the completion of her degree, Dr. Paternotte returned to Maryland and began a one-year equine surgical internship at Manor Equine Hospital in Monkton.  Subsequently, she practiced as an ambulatory veterinarian in northern Baltimore and Harford counties with Dr. Charles Haugh, specializing in preventive and sports medicine.  Over the years acupuncture and nutrition grew to be large parts of her practice as adjuncts to traditional therapies.  To broaden her capabilities, Dr. Paternotte was certified in veterinary chiropractic in May 2008, upon graduating from Options for Animals.
